Business analysis allows you to gain insight using legacy data pertaining to a specific operation or department of your organization. You have to use specific techniques in order to identify what your business needs for efficiency.

This is where a business analyst comes in. They are professionals who analyze your business operations and document its processes and systems. A business analyst assesses the effectiveness of your current business model and identifies its vulnerabilities.

Based on these findings, a business analyst will recommend changes and devise a better productivity solution. The solutions can vary from making changes to your current processes to implementing new software and digital solutions to add value to your brand.

A business analyst can also propose organizational changes, improve critical processes, design and implement new policies. They can be an agent of change and assist you in the strategic planning of various aspects of your organization.

Types Of Business Analyst

There are three broad business analyst roles and responsibilities:

Business process analyst

A specialised business analyst role that involves “thinking processes” is the business process analyst (BPA). When identifying process changes, BPAs consider company objectives to derive conclusions from the small print and connect them to the big picture.

Business systems analyst

Business systems analysts analyse a company’s operating system, processes, and design enhancements using business and technological techniques. Through planning and implementation of information technology systems, they seek to assist a business in operating more effectively and efficiently.

Generalist business analyst

In initiatives of different scope, a generalist practitioner often carries out business analysis tasks utilising various approaches. They must be able to use several strategies in various situations. There are several tiers of generalist roles.
